Get Started

Georgia’s Lemon Law offers protection for consumers who purchase or lease new vehicles that turn out to be defective.

If the same issue persists after a reasonable number of repairs, the manufacturer is legally required to repurchase, replace, or compensate you. Attorney’s fees may also be recoverable.

Your Rights Under Georgia Lemon Law.

Georgia consumers are legally protected if their new vehicle experiences serious defects during the coverage period. If a manufacturer fails to fix the issue after repeated repair attempts, you may qualify for:

  • Repurchase: A full refund, including your down payment, monthly payments, taxes, and fees.
  • Replacement: A new vehicle of comparable value and specifications.
  • Cash Settlement: A lump-sum payout for the inconvenience, reduced value, or loss of use.

In most cases, the manufacturer is also responsible for covering legal fees, so there’s no financial risk to pursue your claim.

What Vehicles Are Covered?

To qualify for Georgia Lemon Law, the defect must:

  • Be substantial, affecting the vehicle’s safety, value, or use.
  • Be reported during the Lemon Law rights period — two years from delivery or the first 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.
  • Remain unresolved after a reasonable number of repair attempts: one attempt for a defect that is life-threatening or likely to cause injury, three attempts for other defects, or a cumulative 30 days out of service.
  • Arbitration must be requested within one year after the Lemon Law rights period expires.

How to Qualify for Georgia Lemon Law?

To qualify for protection under Georgia law:

  • The vehicle must have a defect that significantly affects its use, safety, or value.
  • You must allow the manufacturer a reasonable number of repair attempts (typically 2 or more), or
  • The vehicle has been out of service for 30 or more cumulative days for covered repairs.
  • Filing deadlines are set by state law and are often much shorter than people expect — some states require action within months, not years. Contact us for a free review of the deadline that applies to your vehicle.
  • Be reported while the vehicle is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty or within your state’s lemon-law rights period — these periods vary by state and can be as short as one year.

A quick review of your repair history can determine if you’re eligible.

  • Brake problems or failure
  • Steering and suspension issues
