Columbus Lemon Law ensures drivers don’t have to deal with unreliable vehicles that won’t stay fixed.
By law, manufacturers must repair, replace, or buy back defective vehicles — and may even be required to provide additional compensation.
Understanding Columbus Lemon Law
The Columbus Lemon Law was designed to protect car owners from defective vehicles that affect safety, usability, or resale value. If your new or leased car continues to fail despite repeated repair attempts, you may qualify for:
- A replacement vehicle of equal value
- A full refund, including taxes and registration fees
- A financial settlement for diminished value
- Attorney’s fees covered by the manufacturer if your case is successful
You never pay us directly — we’re paid by the manufacturer.
What Vehicles Are Covered?
Columbus Lemon Law protections apply to:
- Newly purchased or leased vehicles for personal use
- Cars, SUVs, trucks, vans, and motorcycles
- Claims filed within 24 months of purchase or before 24,000 miles (Georgia-specific)
- Vehicles with multiple failed repair attempts or 30+ cumulative days in the shop
- Some small business vehicles under Georgia’s weight limits
Not Covered: As-is used cars, off-road vehicles, or heavily modified vehicles.
Do I Qualify for a Columbus Lemon Law Claim?
You may be eligible if:
- The defect affects your car’s use, safety, or value
- The manufacturer or dealer tried to repair it 3 or more times
- Your car has been out of service for 30+ cumulative days
- You reported the issue within Georgia’s 24-month / 24,000-mile coverage period

Common Defects Covered by Columbus Lemon Law
Typical recurring issues that may qualify include:
• Engine stalling, overheating, or loss of power
• Brake or steering malfunctions
• Electrical failures (dashboard lights, wiring, battery issues)
• Heating or A/C malfunctions
• Transmission slipping, jerking, or delays
• Persistent oil, fuel, or coolant leaks
If these problems keep returning, your car may legally qualify as a lemon.
Columbus Lemon Law and Used Cars
Georgia Lemon Law mainly applies to new vehicles, but some used cars may qualify if:
